Donna Caulton studied art at Evergreen State College, and went on to continue self-training in the art. While working as Artist-in-Residence for the state of Washington in the late 1980's, Donna had the dubious distinction of being the first woman to teach a painting class in the maximum security unit of the Washington State Penitentiary. Based in Seattle for 13 years, her own style gradually became evident. A love of nature led her out of the city into smaller rural aread to live. In 2007 a painting Fellowship at the Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos inspired her to come and live in her new home in the mountains of New Mexico. Donna also teaches workshops in solar etching and monoprint.
