The land where Georgia O'Keeffe's spirit lingers on and where my grandmother Sylvia Drum Young is at rest, in the land she didn't want to leave, the land of entrapment. As a young girl, I remember wishing my skin was the color of my grandmother's, which I referred to as having New Mexico skin. I got my first camera in 1997. Shortly thereafter I started attending the prestigious Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. This was my vacation. Although I lived on the beautiful Oregon Coast, I strongly felt the need to be here in Santa Fe. As a traditional photographer, I work in color, which I love. But after a couple of requests for black and white I would find myself looking at a shot and wondering if I should shoot color, black and white, or both? My transition to digital was slow; my mistake. My images have been in fine art shows, both in group and solo. My work has hung in galleries and cafes along the Oregon Coast as well as Portland, Newberg, Salem, Sisters and Bend, Oregon, Omaha, Nebraska and here in Santa Fe, New Mexico."
