Rebecca was raised in the Mesabi Iron Range town of Gilbert, Minnesota. She displayed an early talent for art, experimenting in various mediums such as clay, fibers, oils and pencil. Upon the completion of her B.F.A. degree in fine arts, at the University of Minnesota - Duluth, she moved to the Minneapolis & St. Paul area and spent 10 years exhibiting in local galleries. During the late 80's she took several trips to Santa Fe, New Mexico. The area's landscape and art scene captivated her. In 1990 she took the "big leap" and moved to Santa Fe. Slowly establishing herself, she began to display her artwork in public art spaces around the city. She currently creates vibrant images in papier-mache and mixed media paintings. Her inspiration bubbles up from daily life, the rich tri-cultural traditions and vibrant scenery of the southwest. Her subject matter easily leaps from cats to people all spilling over with color. She says,"Color with a good splash of humor makes the world a more friendlier place". When she's not in the Santa Fe studio, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her partner Nirmalan.
