MiyA Pottery of Dixon, New Mexico is the collective effort of Andrew Sanders and Miya Endo. Andrew studied ceramics in England where emphasis was placed on functional design. Since then, Andrew has worked professionally as a potter and ceramics teacher in Holland and in the U.S. Miya, drawn to her own Japanese culture and its special relationship with ceramic ware, started making pottery at the Indianapolis Art Center where inspirations led to a professional career. Andrew and Miya have influenced each other greatly in their collaborative and individual works and present a unique collection that balances function and aesthetic design. They specialize in functional domestic stoneware and decorative raku, a special firing technique that creates spontaneous bursts of color and texture on their wheel thrown vases. MiyA Pottery's stoneware is microwave, oven and dishwasher safe. All MiyA Pottery glazes are made from scratch by Andrew and Miya and are lead free.
