Diana Horvath was born in Europe and grew up in Portugal. She was trained at any early age by her mother, Sonia Horvath, who was a highly regarded flower and portrait painter in New York during the 1960's. Diana attended life drawing and painting classes at the School of Visual Arts, the New School and the Art Student's League in New York City, but ended up graduating with a bachelor's degree in nursing at Monmouth University in New Jersey. Diana entered many group shows in New York and New Jersey. She was primarily a plein-air landscape painter, but also worked in compositions and figure-work from life. Her paintings in recent years have all been oils on canvas. Diana moved to New Mexico in 1994, working as an R.N. for the Navajo Area Health Services in Gallup. She has subsequently worked in other facilities while maintaining a home and studio in Thoreau, on the Navajo reservation. She still works as an R.N., but has reduced her hours in order to devote more time to painting.
