Primarily self-taught, Donelli DiMaria has been drawing and painting since he was 8 years old. He had some formal training in classical and contemporary art at different points throughout his life, while living in Connecticut and New York. He pursued a career in science, receiving a Ph.D. in Physics and then going on to work at a Physicst for IBM for many years.
As working as a physicist, Donelli garnered many awards for his paintings. Over the years he developed a distinctive style, characterized as Contemporary Realism, in which he blends the techniques of the Old World Masters-line, form, edge, value- with the brushstrokes, vibrating colors and light effects of the Impressionists.
Donelli just recently moved to Santa Fe, with his wife Diane, who is also an artist.
