Steven A. Jackson’s interest in photography goes back to before he was in college, but he began to work seriously in the darkroom while he was in school. He went to St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland and in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he received his BA. He continued his studies at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada where he received his MA. Steven’s career has included banking, real estate development and computer consulting. While working in these different careers, he continued to pursue his interest in photography. He says that his photographs rarely contain people, although much of the subject matter contains artifacts of the former occupants. This element might have started accidentally, but has continued by design. Most of his digital photographs are “taken” as black and white or sepia toned images, which he enhances with color. His work has been in numerous exhibitions and he is in several private collections.
