Dolores Dawson was raised in Albuquerque, NM. In high school she worked at the Bead Shaman in Old Town and her passion for beads was born. Eventually she became a travel agent and through her travels she began to visit new bead shops and became an avid bead collector. Her first juried show at the New Mexico Arts and Crafts Fair in 1997 hooked her on the idea expanding her beaded jewelry and to do more shows. She started with the traditional loom beadwork but her style evolved to beadwork sewn on leather. This technique gave her freedom to combined different sizes, shapes and textures into interesting designs. All of her designs are original and each piece is one of a kind. She uses gemstones, peals, seed beads and Swarovski crystals to accent her work. With stacks of sketches and new ideas, Dolores’s excitement about making beaded jewelry just grows and grows.
